Illfonic CEO and co-founder issues statement regarding layoffs
The statement itself is short and to the point. Coined by Illfonic CEO and co-founder Charles Brungardt to update Which was shared on X (formerly Twitter).
“Today we had to accept the harsh reality that the state of the industry has affected us here at Illfonic,” says Brungardt. “It was with heavy hearts that we made the cuts to our teams today as we realigned with a revised strategy.”
Brungardt concludes the statement by asking those looking to hire talented developers to reach out to them so they can connect them with those affected by the layoffs. The full statement can be found below.
Illfonic’s first game was 2012’s Nexuiz. However, its popularity rose with 2017’s asymmetrical survival horror game Friday the 13th. This essentially opened the door to other licensed game opportunities within this niche multiplayer genre. These included Predator: The Hunting Grounds, Ghostbusters: Souls Unleashed, and Killer Clowns from Outer Space: The Game. The studio also developed Dead Alliance and Arcadegeddon.
Illfonic has served as a support studio for several games including Armored Warfare, Crysis 3, Evolve, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, and Star Citizen.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is the studio’s latest release which was launched earlier this year. Our reviewer Tyler Treese gave it an 8.5.
