Basil Iwanyk talks about the possibilities of The Continental season 2 in the world of John Wick
Promoting John Wick 10y Anniversary, Iwanyk confirmed initial talks about a second season of The Continental. However, he also claimed that the current focus is on projects that would expand the John Wick universe that already exists in the present day.
While talking to DirectRoss Millheim Iwanyk said:
“I think we were happy with Season 1. I think we talked a little bit about Season 2. But I think the feeling is, if we wanted to put something on TV in the John Wick universe, the Robert Levine version that we came out with, that we’re negotiating with somebody, maybe “Be the best choice for John Wick content in the world of television.”
He continued:
“So, I loved making things [The Continental]. I love[d] The seventies of [it][. I loved Albert Hughes. Everything about it. I think it was a really cool, crazy idea for it. I think now we want to put together something that is going to inform more of what the future of the franchise is going to be, yeah.”
Set in the 70s, The Continental told the story of a young Winston Scott, played by Colin Woodell. But as per Iwanyk’s comment, fans should expect other projects instead of The Continental Season 2.
Those spin-offs include the John Wick: Under the High Table series and Ana de Armas’ Ballerina movie. Despite the ending of John Wick 4, Chapter 5 is still anticipated by many fans. But, whether Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski would unite sooner or later remains to be seen.
