Ryan Reynolds says he sees Deadpool as a supporting character moving forward in the MCU.

Reynolds most recently reprized his role as Wade Wilson in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, which marks the first time the Merc with a Mouth will be part of a superhero film set primarily within the MCU.

While Deadpool’s next appearance has yet to be officially confirmed for any of Marvel Studios’ upcoming projects, Reynolds believes we’ll likely see Wade as a supporting cast rather than leading the project during the character’s next outing.

What did Ryan Reynolds say about Deadpool in the MCU?

Tell Andrew Garfield about diverseCast on Cast: “I see Deadpool much more as a supporting character than a main character [character] Or in the center. Sometimes we focus on it because they want, that’s what they want. But you can’t center it unless you take everything from it. You have to create a situation where he is the very underdog. I don’t think I can do it again. If he comes back, I think it will be in someone else’s movie. Channing Tatum is so excited to play Gambit, I would gladly be the fifth banana in his or any movie.

Reynolds also said: “My feeling is that [the] The character works very well in two ways. One is rarity and surprise. It’s been six years since the last time, and part of the reason is because it swallowed up my life whole. You can’t take your hand off the stick all the way through development and post-production to marketing and promotion.

“Then, I have four kids, and I never want to be on a first-name basis with any of them. I never want to be absent and miss things. I, like, die inside when I see their faces and they have a competition, or a sports thing, or something.” Like, I missed it so I don’t know what the future of Deadpool will be, but Sean [Levy] And I made the film to have a beginning, middle and end, and to be a complete experience rather than a commercial for another one. I think it’s important, sometimes, to make room for a film to just be a film.

Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine is now streaming on Disney+.
