Live-Action Tangled Adaptation in the Works At Disney

Disney is officially working on a live-action adaptation of the 2010 animated film tangledWe have already been in negotiations with a potential manager, according to a recent report from Deadline.

What do we know about the live-action movie Tangled?

Deadline’s latest report indicates that Michael Gracie, who directed 2017’s The Greatest Showman and is directing the upcoming Robbie Williams biopic Better Man, is in talks to direct the live-action film, though nothing has been confirmed yet.

Jennifer Keaten Robinson (Do Revenge, Thor: Love and Thunder) is said to have written the latest draft of the script. Kristen Burr and Lucy Kitada are also said to be attached to produce the film. It’s not clear if the film will follow the story of the animated film, but the report indicates that it will.

Originally released in 2010, Tangled is loosely based on the famous tale of Rapunzel, first found in the Brothers Grimm’s collection of folktales. The story revolves around Rapunzel, the princess with magical blonde hair, as she escapes from her tower with the help of the outlaw Flynn Rider. The two then embark on a fun romantic adventure.

The original film stars Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Donna Murphy, Brad Garrett, Ron Perlman, Jeffrey Tambor, Richard Kiel, MC Gainey, and Paul F. Tompkins. It was a huge success for Disney, grossing over $590 million at the global box office and becoming one of the 10 highest-grossing films of 2010. Since its release, a short film and television series based on the project have also been released.
