Andrew Garfield He says that while he’s “disappointed, of course” that he didn’t get to star in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, he’s also “very, very happy” that he was replaced by Jacob Elordi.

Del Toro is currently working on a new Frankenstein movie for Netflix. Garfield was originally cast to play Frankenstein’s monster in the film; However, he was forced to withdraw from the project in early 2024 due to scheduling conflicts related to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.

Elordi will now play Frankenstein’s monster in the film, while Oscar Isaac will play Victor Frankenstein. The cast also includes Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Charles Dance, Ralph Ineson, Felix Kammerer, and more.

Speaking at the Red Sea Studio via Delivery timeGarfield explained why he was glad the role ultimately went to Elordi.

Netflix has yet to announce an exact release date for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, though the film is expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
