Anna Kendrick recently revealed that she has not made any money from her work Woman of the hourInstead donate the money earned from the film to various charities.
Speaking to the Crime Junkie AF podcast, Kendrick revealed that after Netflix bought the film and before the film’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, she realized the film would actually make money, and she didn’t know whether to feel that way or not. “Gross” about that side of it.
“Eventually, Netflix bought the movie. But it wasn’t until the week leading up to TIFF that I thought, ‘Oh, the movie’s going to make money,'” Kendrick said. “We barely made it to the deadline to get into TIFF, and then it was like there was going to be money exchanging hands. I asked myself the question: Are you disgusted by this? And I was.”
Kendrick went on to say that she’s “not making money from the movie” — which is based on the true story of serial killer Rodney Alcala and his 1978 appearance on the TV show The Dating Game. Instead, Kendrick said, the money is being donated to RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) and the National Center for Crime Victims.
