Chris Evans MCU Return Set for Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Evans Officially returns to Marvel Cinematic Universewith TheWrap reporting that the star who has played Captain America for more than a decade will be there Avengers: Doomsday.

Although Evans is returning to the Marvel Universe, it is unclear whether or not he will return as Captain America. TheWrap report notes that the exact extent and nature of Evans’ appearance is unknown.

Evans is known to have said goodbye to the role of Steve Rogers in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, with the character choosing to stay back in time and grow old with Peggy Carter. Anthony Mackie, who plays Sam Wilson in the MCU, is set to take on the title of Captain America in the upcoming film. Captain America: Brave New Worldwhich will be released on February 14, 2025.

Evans’ return to the MCU has been something that has been rumored for some time. The actor himself even said that he would be open to a return as long as the right thing happened in the past, and now it looks like it has. He will be joined by his former MCU colleague Robert Downey Jr. in the project, with the latter set to play Victor Von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, in the film.

Doomsday will also see the return of MCU mainstays The Russo Brothers, with Joe and Anthony set to direct the next team-up film. Avengers: Doomsday doesn’t have an official release date yet, though Marvel Studios has said the film is coming in May 2026. It was previously scheduled a year earlier than May 2, 2025, but it joins Avengers: Doomsday. Long list of Marvel delays Many films have undergone rewrites and were affected by entertainment industry strikes throughout 2023.

The film was previously called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but was renamed following Jonathan Majors’ firing last year. Although the film’s plot is unclear, it will almost certainly center entirely around Doom, one of the most popular and iconic villains in comic book history.
