Official plot synopsis for Den of Thieves 2: Pantera It reads as follows:

“In DEN OF THIEVES 2: PANTERA, Big Nick returns to stalk the mean streets of Europe and closes in on Donnie who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the notorious Panther Mafia, as they plan a massive heist from the world’s largest diamond exchange.”

The original film focuses on O’Brien (Butler) and his elite team from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as they hunt down a highly skilled crew of bank robbers planning a daring heist on the Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Los Angeles. The film provided big-screen thrills that closely resembled – in the best way – the epic bank robberies seen in it grand theft autoand it was clearly a huge hit with audiences as it ended up earning $44.9 million in the United States and Canada, as well as $35.7 million internationally, for a global total of $80.5 million. Not bad for a $30 million production budget. Not bad at all.
