According to a recent report from Deadline, Mescudi will join the project that is already set to feature a big band. Mescudi’s role in the film is not yet known, but he will continue his expansion into the world of Hollywood. Best known for his music under the name Kid Cudi, Mescudi has done a lot of acting over the years.
The star has recently appeared in a variety of high-profile projects, including 2021’s Crisis and Don’t Look Up, 2022’s X, 2023’s Trolls Band Together and Silent Night, and 2024’s Trap. Mescudi also recently appeared in the TV series Knuckles.

Along with Sandler, Julie Bowen and Christopher Macdonald are returning for Happy Gilmore 2, which has just begun production. Additionally, NFL star Travis Kelce and director Benny Safdie will star in the film, as will superstar musical artist Bad Bunny and All Elite Wrestling star Maxwell Jacob Friedman, aka MJF.
The screenplay was written by Sandler and Herlihy, both of whom also serve as producers. Duggan serves as executive producer alongside Judit Moll, Kevin Grady, David Pausch and Barry Bernardi.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date for Happy Gilmore 2. The original Happy Gilmore is currently streaming on Peacock.
