What is the story in New York about?
The film takes place on Christmas Eve in New York City, and revolves around a humble taxi driver. He decided to take one last trip before returning home to celebrate with his estranged son.
However, the taxi driver becomes embroiled in a clash with a gang of criminals, and will have to embark on a “relentless chase to recover his child’s priceless Christmas gift,” as the film’s official synopsis states.
Helander is best known for his historical thriller Sisu, which was widely released in 2023 and tells the story of a Finnish man fighting against the Nazis. The film was selected at midnight at TIFF, was released to positive reviews, and grossed over $14 million at the box office.
Ke Huy Quan is a Hollywood legend, best known for his childhood roles in films, including playing Short Round in the Indiana Jones series, as well as Data in 1985’s The Goonies. After a 19-year hiatus from acting, Quan returned and starred in Everything Everywhere All at One (2022), which catapulted his career to stardom and earned an Oscar.
Most recently, Quan starred in the second season of the Disney+/Marvel Studios series Lokiand she will also star in the upcoming film The Electric State as well Zootopia 2 And love hurts.
