John Krasinski to Lead New Jack Ryan Movie, Director Announced

A new Jack Ryan film will see The Office star and A Quiet Place director John Krasinski return to his role in the hit Prime Video series.

Amazon MGM is developing a new Jack Ryan movie that will serve as a sequel to the TV show. It is not yet known whether the film will get a theatrical release or be produced for Prime Video, where all four seasons are broadcast. The show was a huge hit and is one of the top three most-watched series on Prime Video.

Who is in the movie Jack Ryan?

Not only will Krasinski be returning, but Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are also in negotiations to return for the film. The cast and crew will include plenty of familiar faces, with Andrew Bernstein, who directed the second season, directing the film, which was written by Aaron Rabin, who was a writer on the show’s fourth season. Bernstein has also worked on popular shows like The Diplomat, Ozark, and Foundation.

The new Jack Ryan film is being produced by Krasinski and Alison Seager for Sunday Night and Andrew Form. Executive producers are Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg, as well as John Kelly and Carlton Cuse.

“As the new acting Deputy Director of the CIA, Jack Ryan is tasked with exposing internal corruption, and in doing so, uncovers a series of shady black operations that could expose the country’s weakness,” the Season 4 synopsis reads. The team investigates how deep the corruption runs, discovers a much worse truth – a drug cartel’s affinity with a terrorist organization – and ultimately uncovers a conspiracy much closer to home and tests our hero’s faith in the system he runs. They have always fought to protect.

All four seasons of Jack Ryan are currently streaming on Prime Video and are available to own in 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD. A spin-off is currently in development.
