Ballerina, or From the world of John Wick: BallerinaWhich will arrive in theaters on June 6, 2025, and is among the most anticipated films in recent times. With Ana de Armas in the title role, the action film’s cast has great additions in the form of Reeves, who returns as John Wick, along with Lance Reddick, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, and more.
Lionsgate Films made a surprise drop when it released new footage of ballerina Ana de Armas at the Comic-Con Experience (CCXP), held in São Paulo, Brazil. The footage features Armas playing the trained assassin, Eve Macaro, and offers a peek into Armas’ journey to become Macaro.
The clip is over 3 minutes long and shows Armas’ character interacting with Reeves’ Wick as she asks him how she can do things the way he does. This frame is followed by Armas getting into some intense action with Wick saying, “It looks like you’ve already done it.” Commenting on the difficult action scenes, Armas said in the footage: “I’m actually surprised that I came out of it in one piece.”
Additionally, the footage features more scenes of Eve showing off her fighting skills. In the clip, Ballerina’s director, Len Wiseman, describes the film: “This is not a female John Wick. This is a story about Eve who got into it from the beginning. What’s more, Ian McShane, who plays Winston, says, “John Wick is Baba Yaga. And Anna, she’s the baby Yaga.”
Produced by Chad Stahelski, Ballerina falls between the 2019 film John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and the 2023 film John Wick: Chapter 4. Ballerina was announced in April 2022 with Ana De Armas replacing Unity Phelan who appeared in John Wick: Chapter 3 As Eve Macaro.
