“Things are still in flux, but Anatomy of a Murder is expected to serve as inspiration for the second season of what will become a true anthology series,” the Deadline article said. “There has been an idea to continue one or two characters from the first season for the sake of continuity similar to HBO’s The White Lotus; it is unclear if this is still a possibility.”

Anatomy of a Murder is about a woman named Lila Reynolds, who has just been handed her first murder case but then has to fight her husband, who is the prosecutor on the case. This means that Presumed Innocent season 2 will likely have a female lead, although there is no information available on who will play Laila in the show.
Season 2 of Presumed Innocent will be produced by Gyllenhaal, David E. Kelley, JJ Abrams, Dustin Thomason, Matt Tinker, and Rachel Rush Rich. A release date has not been set yet.
