Wicked Class Action Lawsuit Filed Over Porn Link Mistake

A A nasty class action lawsuit In the works is incorrect packaging for early releases of Mattel’s evil doll line, which has been linked to a porn site rather than the actual movie site.

A new complaint was filed today by Holly Ricketson (via Deadline) in federal court in California, who claims she bought an evil doll for her young daughter. After purchasing the doll, the daughter went to the website listed in the box, “Wicked.com,” which directs you to an adult entertainment website rather than the actual Wicked promotional website.

“On or about November 11, 2024, Plaintiff purchased an evil doll for her minor daughter,” the complaint states. “After opening the box containing the Wicked Doll, Plaintiff’s minor daughter used an iPhone to visit the website shown on Defendant’s packaging. To her utter shock, the website ‘Wicked.com’ had nothing to do with the Wicked Doll. Rather, Wicked.com pasted scenes Pornographic ads on her phone screen.”

The suit goes on to point out that the plaintiff’s daughter was shown explicit images, and that Mattel did not offer “any refund to consumers who had already purchased the dolls.” The lawsuit seeks damages of up to $5 million for those who purchased the game with the incorrect stickers.

While Mattel and Universal have not acknowledged the lawsuit, Mattel issued a statement last month when news of the issue began spreading online. At the time, the company said it regretted the error and was taking the necessary measures. They also advised parents to throw away any packaging or try to hide the link on the box.

“We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to address this matter,” Mattel said in a statement last month. “Parents are advised that the misprinted and incorrect website is not suitable for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or hide the link and may contact Mattel customer service for further information.

Wicked is now in theaters, and is currently enjoying huge success at the box office, earning over $360 million and breaking several records along the way.
