Matchbox Cast Adds Ted Lassos Sam Richardson to John Cena Movie

Emmy Award winner Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso) has been tapped to join Matchbox Featured for an upcoming live-action film from Mattel Films, this is a real-world toy car set. Additional details about his character are still under wraps. Along with Matchbox, Richardson is also attached to star in several projects, including the adventure comedy Sacrifice with Anya Taylor-Joy, and the comedy Let’s Have Kids! With Karen Gillan.

Who will lead the Matchbox crew?

The live-action Matchbox will be led by Peacemaker star John Cena and Candy’s Jessica Biel. It will be directed by Sam Hargrave, best known for directing Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction films. Matchbox was created by automotive expert Jack O’Dell in 1953 for Lesney Products. In 1997, Mattel officially acquired the toy brand. The screenplay was co-written by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan) and Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project). It hails from Apple Original Films, Skydance and Mattel Films, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger and Robbie Brenner serving as producers.
