Disney Developing Jane Goodall Movie Penned by The Luminaries Writer

Disney has always done a great job of creating inspiring biopics like Save Mr. Banks, Secretariat, and this year’s Young Woman and the Sea. However, the entertainment group is not done spreading inspiring stories yet. Famous environmentalist, Jane Goodallwill finally get a Disney biopic written by The Luminaries writer Eleanor Caton.

Jane Goodall has spent the past 60 years studying the social and family interactions of chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The British zoologist challenged this male-dominated field in the 1960s by demonstrating human behaviors that may have been inherited by common ancestors related to chimpanzees. Since the Jane Goodall Institute was a conservation partner in the Disneynature Chimpanzee documentary, the primatologist confirmed to Delivery time That she will finally get her own Disney biopic.

“They’re making a movie about me with an actress,” Goodall said. “I saw the first draft of the script and made a lot of comments.”

Not only has Jane Goodall given her blessing to the upcoming Disney project, but she will also serve as a producer. Other big names joining the Disney biopic are Eleanor Catton who will serve as screenwriter. The New Zealand author is best known for her historical fantasy novel The Luminaries, and also wrote the award-winning miniseries. Caton also wrote the screenplay for the 2020 film adaptation of Emma starring Anya Taylor-Joy.

Disney will also partner with Leonardo DiCaprio’s company Appian Way Productions, which will help produce the biopic. Jane Goodall and Appian Way will also produce the upcoming live-action film Howl, which is told from the perspective of a dog and a wolf. Howl is currently in pre-production.
