I thought I was giving my wife special treatment this morning; I made breakfast. This is my first attempt at making pancakes from scratch, and it turned out perfect if I may say so. Yesterday we received some muscadine syrup (actually brandy gone awry). [nac]). The combined flavor of the syrup, berries, lemon peel, and 1-1/2 teaspoons of lemon juice used to activate the baking soda was beyond delicious. Thanks for your recipe. BTW: I replaced the lemon juice from the grated lemon and baking soda with 1 TB baking powder. According to healthline.com, the baking soda to lemon juice ratio is 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon for every 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Since there are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon, I used 3/4 teaspoon to 1-1/2 teaspoon baking soda with lemon juice for 1 tablespoon baking powder.
