Prime Video Cruel intentions It premiered on November 21, 2024, with all eight episodes of the inaugural season. While the series has not officially gotten the green light yet Season 2showrunners Phoebe Fisher and Sarah Goodman discussed how they would handle this in a recent interview.

Phoebe Fisher and Sarah Goodman talk about maintaining ‘essence’ in Cruel Intentions Season 2

Fisher and Goodman spoke about expectations for Cruel Intentions season 2 in a new interview and what they would like to accomplish with the story if Prime Video renews the show. The series is not a scene-by-scene adaptation of the 1999 film, which was based on the 1782 novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.

The characters in the show are not the ones played by Gellar and the others in the movie. For the most part, characters in a TV series are different versions of their movie counterparts and do not share names, just as characters in a movie are different versions of those in a novel.

While talking to Hollywood ReporterGoodman reflected on the impact their narrative choices could have on the second season. “We really hope that people fall in love with her for who she is and that they want to go on this journey with these characters in this world, wherever it takes us,” she said. “So will there be shout-outs? Of course, we love all of these things. But we’ve already spent eight hours in an hour-and-a-half movie.

Goodman stressed the importance of maintaining the “essence” of the characters, tone, and taboos of the film adaptation. She added: “All those things that made all previous incarnations delicious and vile will continue, and we will make our own way while preserving the bridge.” “There will always be a bridge. And it still has his car. It still has the cross pendant.”

Fisher and Goodman also explained that the end of the first season was intentionally left at a point where the story could continue, and they could explore more of the internal dynamics between the characters.

Sean Patrick Thomas, a member of the film’s cast, appears in the trailer. The showrunners have expressed their desire to bring back more cast members if the series continues.
